just for the sake of finishing updating about my Taiwan trip. Here's ...
Day 7
went to a place near our hotel to shoot graffiti cause i wanted to. Am super grateful to the sporting wengweng who willingly just came along without complaints!
it was pretty early in the morn and we saw this uncle removing outdated posters from the pillars...
some sticker art..
afterwhich we returned to the hotel just to use the toilet. (ps/ it's only a 1 min walk away -.-) while weng was getting busy i took my kinder surprise out of the fridge and gobbled it up! Yeap! They still have kinder surprise everywhere there while we're only left/ already have the new kinderjoy. I still think the chocolate for kinderjoy is much nicer, but the toys from kindersurprise are wayyyyyy better. Did i just devote a whole paragraph to kindersurprise/joy? :x
did a lil research online the night before + asked wen regarding other places that might have graffiti and we were taken to somewhere near
Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, 國父紀念館. It was apparently a former tobacco plant? coool :D
props for weng again for daring to go in with me. Can tell she was a little hesitant because afterall it was a "restricted" area. I mean, this was our entrance...

gates were locked, there were other entrances through broken bushes made by others who probably entered the same way. I peered into the "security guardhouse" (or what was) but it was empty to in we went anyway. didn't waste any time and just snapped away!
i am so thoughtful. hahahaha
yeap. collated some of the works from the area, got comments that my blog takes 987654 years to load because of all the photos ): pretty isn't it? After i came back i was so damn inspired to go overseas again to take more street art! ):
fave polaroid that weng took of me :D
thats weng with our favourite piece of work.
yay! but ironically this was one of the last photos i took before Jayden died on me!!!!!!
i got too lazy to charge it the day before and thus decided to depend on the 2/3 full battery. turns out once i took it out it dropped to 1/3, then right after snapping all the graffiti and the above picture, it just blacked out and refused to turn on anymore! I didn't know whether to be happy or sad, considering i had managed to just finish taking, yet i still had a long day to go and so many places to visit! D:
Oh, and just to mention. about midway through while i was happily snapping away weng came up behind me and said quite frantically,
"OMG THERE'S A POLICEMAN"turns out there WAS security for the place! I half panicked and just concentrated on taking photos, thinking at least by the time he walks to me i would have gotten a few more shots (ahha it was quite a distance). in the end he just watched us from his guardhouse, i'm thinking many people have just gone in to take shots so he's probably used to it.
Decided to head to the Sun Yat-Sun Memorial hall after. As mentioned Jayden was out of batt so the rest of the entry would just be polaroids and photos from the N82 I'm currently using (sigh). But then again, it's been long since i just "properly-camwhored/taken self portraits" like that.
i vaguely remember being there before in 2006! I can't be sure though, there are many places with guards and statues in Taiwan... :x
the "garden" in front of the entrance.
we could see Taipei 101 from where we were! Thus, we decided to walk over.
Despite coming to Taiwan before, both of us haven't been up the Observatory! It costs 400NT each for a ticket up to the 89th Storey.
polaroid! but our aiming was damn off thus you see nothing and i had to manually draw it in -.-
here's what was actually behind.... -.-
a better photo taken using the N82
We took our time to walk one round around the observatory, spotting familiar buildings and just taking photos. We decided to head down after about an hour when we saw people walking up, instead of down. Turns out that the Outdoor Observatory was open! According to the notice it only opens on certain occasions!!!
Lucky us! :D
It was damnnn windy. We almost got blown away - it felt like it! We went up not so much for the view, it was just nice knowing you're so high up i guess, the
91st Storey. Here's a photo i grabbed from weng's blog to show how windy it is (it really is much stronger than it looks!!!)
after descending we headed to NewYork NewYork, 紐約紐約 to shop abit.
stupid overexposed backgrounds! polaroids don't exactly like us i guess, i keep having to draw backgrounds in.. :X
It was getting late and we still had plans for that night thus we left soon after checking out a couple of major brands. Felt lazy so we took a cab to the train station. Then off to Danshui!
Danshui, 淡水 is the last station on the red line there and it took us about 40 minutes by train from the central area. Our main purpose of going there was to buy tie dans, or 鐵蛋!!! No doubt, it translates to Metal Egg and as it's name suggests, it's really hard, black and they're really edible eggs!

I also watched local telly before the trip and they were recommending Ah Gei, 阿給 -- A danshui delicacy and thus i decided to try it! :D

We kinda just walked the entire stretch of shops, along the way we just kept munching on snacks. Tempura mushrooms, fried baby soft shell crabs, prawn rolls etc!
It finally reached a point where we were pretty tired and decided to embark on our train ride back again.
But...! We decided to drop at Taipei Train Station again, just so we can take the longer route back to our hotel again, so we can grab food!!!!
PIGS'R'US!

We bought Ah Zong Mee Sua, 阿宗麵線 back to try and it was delicious!! I just can't get enough of Meesua-- Taiwan style!!!

Oh! and remember how i mentioned i got shirts from Outerspace in the previous entry? It was about 2 days into our trip and stay at our hotel when renovation works started taking place at a shop about 3 doors away? We walked past one night and realised that a new outerspace is coming!!! wah, so near. too bad it only opens on 2nd May.

Day 8
Woke up, lazed around and after checking out we kinda wasted no time at all. Ate our brunch at Yoshinoya before frantically brisk walking all around Ximending 西門町 for last minute things to buy.
we also tried Cold Stone!!! YAY!!!! Now i can say i've eaten the "original" version of SG's cold rock.
We bumped into pretty strange people that day, but we also got pretty good buys. Weng and I managed to snag a really cheap pair of nikes each! Actually, nike is cheap there, everywhere.

Bought mister donut and rushed back to the hotel only to remember that we left our coach tickets in the room (!!!) managed to get it settled but alot of bumps along the way and we reached the airport considerably late.
A terrible 4hour 20min flight back but i had my parents and boyf come pick me at the airport! :D
We headed to Bedok 85 for supper then sent boyf home, then sent weng home before i finally reached home at 2am!!
okayyy, here is a photo of my tees (2 for wern, 2 are mine)
that kinda sums up the Taiwan 2009 trip! :D
p/s: omg i'm so relieved i finished blogging about the trip! :D
p/p/s: school is... starting to sink in, i guess...
p/p/p/s: ahh, confused about whether i should take up/continue...
